My Why! Dana Pomaranski Shares Her Passion for Care

Dana Pomaranski, RDCS, cardiovascular sonographer at Trinity Health Oakland, shares why she chose to work for Trinity Health Oakland and how it fuels her passion to care for others.
“I have been a cardiovascular sonographer for almost four years now,” said Dana. “I knew this was my dream job because I have had endless amounts of echos (echocardiograms) myself.”
When Dana was a toddler, she had two open heart surgeries — at ages 3 and 4. “The staff at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital was so kind and understanding,” said Dana. “They left such a big impact on my heart (literally!) and influenced me to become an echo tech. Once I became old enough to understand and search for my career, becoming an echo tech was a goal of mine that I achieved!”
Trinity Health Oakland and University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital collaborate to provide specialty pediatric services in metro Detroit, including services like the cardiology care Dana received as a child.
“I perform echocardiograms, which is an ultrasound of your heart,” said Dana. “I am also skilled in stress testing, procedures and I am involved with specific surgeries. I am passionate about getting answers for my patients so they can get back to a healthy lifestyle.”
Many colleagues at Trinity Health Oakland boast about the rewarding relationships they have with their team mates at work; Dana is no different. “The women I work with are truly a blessing and I am so fortunate to be placed here in such an uplifting environment,” said Dana. “We’re not only team members, but also have a sister-like relationship.”
When Dana is away from work, she is able to refresh her energy by working out and spending time in the sun with family and friends.
“I definitely would recommend working at Trinity Health Oakland,” said Dana. “The compassion and friendliness here go beyond your immediate team — it’s felt throughout the entire hospital."
