Falicia Mervau, surgical technologist, shares why she chose to work for Trinity Health Grand Rapids and how it fuels her passion to care for others. Falicia has worked in the Operating Room for nearly three years.
“Trinity Health Grand Rapids helps me fulfill my passion to care for others because we all keep our mission as the focal point when we treat our patients,” said Falicia. “We’re truly here for the patient's best care and best possible outcome.”
Why do you like your role?
A core value of Trinity Health Grands Rapids is safety. Falicia’s role is dedicated to safety. As a surgical technologist, she prepares the sterile equipment and operating room for procedures. Surgeons depend on her to handle the instrumentation and to be ready when needed to assist them.
“I enjoy working for Trinity Health Grand Rapids because they’re true to their standards of care,” said Falicia. “Our Operating Room staff is like family. We’re always here to not only help patients, but also each other.”
Why do you like working with your team?
The camaraderie that Falicia feels while at work is powered by Trinity Health Grand Rapids’ mission – which lifts patients and colleagues, alike. When Falicia is not working, she enjoys crocheting, hiking, kayaking, and lifting weights in the gym with her husband.
“I would recommend that other surgical technologists work here, at Trinity Health Grand Rapids,” said Falicia. “Our surgeons are very nice, and all the other technologists and nurses are very enjoyable to work with and always bring welcoming smiles.”
