Lost Your Medicaid Coverage?

Coverage is Care

If your Medicaid coverage has ended, you may still have options for health insurance or financial assistance.

Losing Medicaid coverage can happen for several reasons, but it does not always mean you are out of options. Taking action as soon as possible may help you find new coverage and avoid gaps in healthcare.

Why Medicaid Coverage May End

Medicaid coverage may end for several reasons, including:

  • Renewal forms were not returned on time
  • MDHHS requested documents that were not provided
  • Your income or household situation changed
  • MDHHS was unable to contact you

If your coverage recently ended, contact MDHHS as soon as possible to understand your options. In some cases, you may still be able to provide the information that was requested and have your case reviewed again.

Apply Through the Health Insurance Marketplace

If you no longer qualify for Medicaid, you may still be able to get health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Many people qualify for financial assistance that lowers monthly premiums.

If your Medicaid coverage recently ended, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, which allows you to enroll outside of the normal enrollment period.
