Hematology Oncology Fellowship

Trinity Health Ann Arbor Cancer Center

The Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship is a clinician focused program with ample research opportunities. The cancer program has been in existence for over 30 years and in 2019 opened a new state-of-the-art Cancer Center adjacent to the 548-bed Trinity Health Ann Arbor hospital. Coinciding with the opening of the new center was the establishment of our Hematology Oncology Fellowship program with our inaugural class beginning July 2019. The program accepts 2 eligible fellows per year who are fully integrated into the cancer program participating on the inpatient service, multi-disciplinary tumor clinics with accompanying tumor boards, weekly didactic conferences, fellows' journal club, biweekly heme-path slide review, and monthly Cancer Center Grand Rounds. In addition, coordinated opportunity to participate within the Internal Medicine core educational conferences for physician wellness and social determinants of healthcare as required by the ACGME.

Fellows receive training in the conduct of clinical trials through the NIH required program and are integrated into the robust Michigan Cancer Research Consortium (MCRC). The MCRC-NCORP is one of 47 research programs established by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to provide patients with access to national cancer research studies while remaining in their own communities. The MCRC includes 12 different hospitals with SJMHS as the lead center for the research consortium. More information about MCRC can be found here.
