When it comes to heart care, not all programs are recognized at the same level. That's why a recent national designation awarded to Trinity Health Grand Rapids and Trinity Health Muskegon is worth celebrating.

The two West Michigan hospitals were recently named Corazon Heart & Vascular Centers of Excellence, placing them among just six hospitals nationwide to receive the distinction. The designation recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional quality, patient outcomes and adherence to nationally recognized standards across multiple cardiovascular service lines.

For patients, the recognition provides reassurance that they have access to high-level cardiovascular expertise close to home.

At Trinity Health Muskegon, the designation was awarded for excellence in electrophysiology (EP), percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and chest pain care. At Trinity Health Grand Rapids, the recognition honors the organization's electrophysiology (EP), elective PCI and peripheral vascular intervention (PVI) programs.

These specialized programs care for patients facing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, from blocked arteries and heart rhythm disorders to diseases affecting blood vessels throughout the body.

Blair Moreau, Director of Heart & Vascular Services at Trinity Health Muskegon, shares that the designation reflects years of commitment from multidisciplinary teams focused on delivering exceptional outcomes.

West Michigan Heart Programs Earn Corazon Recognition

"This recognition is a testament to the expertise, dedication and collaboration of our physicians, nurses and care teams," Moreau said. "Every day, they work to ensure patients receive the highest quality cardiovascular care possible. Being recognized among only six hospitals in the country reinforces our commitment to clinical excellence and to providing advanced heart and vascular care close to home."

To earn the designation, hospitals undergo a comprehensive evaluation that examines clinical quality, operational performance, patient outcomes and adherence to evidence-based guidelines. The process is designed to ensure organizations consistently meet rigorous standards of cardiovascular care.

Heart disease remains a leading health concern for Americans, making access to advanced cardiovascular services increasingly important. From preventive care and diagnostic testing to minimally invasive procedures and advanced electrophysiology treatments, both Trinity Health Grand Rapids and Trinity Health Muskegon continue to invest in programs that help patients receive specialized care without leaving West Michigan.

The designation from Corazon highlights not only the strength of these individual programs, but also the ongoing commitment of both hospitals to improving cardiovascular health throughout the communities they serve.
