A sweet, juicy, and hydrating summer-time melon for all to enjoy!

Season: June - August

Storage and Preparation

Cantaloupe is a sweet fruit generally eaten raw. The sweetness of the fruit pairs well with salty foods such as cottage cheese or yogurt. To prepare, rinse under cool running water and cut off the melon rind with a knife. Cut into cube form or ball using a melon baller. After cutting, store the cantaloupe in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. Store an uncut cantaloupe at room temperature until ripe.

Nutrition

Cantaloupe is a great source of antioxidants, electrolytes, and hydration which benefit heart health. It is rich in soluble fiber, vitamins, and minerals that can improve digestion, lower cholesterol levels, and balance blood sugar. Pick a ripe cantaloupe by looking for a light orange color under the skin. Cantaloupe is a delicious fruit to eat to stay hydrated and satiated on a hot summer day!
