Bryan Popp, MD

Bryan Popp, MD

Department Chair

Dr. Bryan Popp is in his sixth year as the System Department Chair for Trinity Health Hospital Ann Arbor and Livingston. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He has practiced general Obstetrics and Gynecology for 17 years at Trinity Health.

Dr. Popp is part of the Core faculty for the residency program and also served as the Medical Director of the Academic Ob/Gyn Center (location for the resident continuity outpatient experience) for eight years. He was recognized recently by the March of Dimes, for boldly spearheading the effort to bring CenteringPregnancy to our resident academic clinic back in 2015. This work is indicative of his continuous focus on the wellbeing and promotion of the residency program.

In addition to being repeatedly recognized for his excellence in teaching, Dr. Popp’s leadership is known for team collaboration, inclusivity, and professional integrity. He is an active participant in the oversight and operations of the residency program.

Dr. Robert Stager

Kelly O'Connor, MD

Residency Program Director

Dr. Kelly O'Connor is currently the Residency Program Director at Trinity Health Hospital, an independent academic medical center. She graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1994 and went on to complete her residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1998. Dr. O'Connor has also worked more than sixteen years at her current IHA Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics private practice. During her time with IHA, she has worked directly with and trained our Trinity Health Hospital OB/Gyn residents.

Dr. O'Connor is truly a dynamic, forward thinking and outstanding medical educator receiving significant honors and awards; such as the IHA Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology Patient Satisfaction Award, APGO Medical Education Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award and the Charles Newton Jr., MD Memorial Award. Her clinical interests include premenopausal issues, hormone replacement therapy, endometriosis disorders of pelvic relaxation and primary care of women.

Dr. Robert Stager

Deborah Landis Lewis, MD

Associate Program Director

Dr. Deb Landis Lewis is the Associate Program Director for the OB/Gyn residency at Trinity Health Hospital Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Magee-Womens Hospital (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center).  Dr. Landis Lewis joined Trinity Health's in 2015, and became an Associate Program Director in 2016.

She has received awards in compassionate care, humanism in medicine, and recognition for excellence in medical student education. Her clinical interests include care for incarcerated women and other marginalized groups, disparities in women’s health, and group prenatal care.

Prior to coming to Michigan, Dr. Landis Lewis practiced general obstetrics and gynecology on an island in southeast Alaska. Her passion for global women’s health has led to opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Latin America, where she worked to improve maternal care and cervical cancer screening.

Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors and new places with her family, soccer, and photography.

Erika Mowers, MD

Erika Mowers, MD

Associate Program Director

Dr. Erika Mowers attended the University of Michigan for undergrad, medical school, residency and MIGS fellowship. She started at Trinity Health in 2016 and specializes in complex minimally invasive surgery and chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Mowers has consistently demonstrated her passion and commitment for the teaching of our residents and she became an Associate Program Director in Spring 2024. She has won both of our resident teaching awards as well as the APGO Excellence in Teaching Award and the Charles Newton Award for medical student education. Clinically she spends her time running the successful Advanced Gynecology service line and serves as the site medical director for the Academic OBGYN Clinic (AOGC). Additionally, she has been influential in our enhanced pre-operative conference that occurs bi-monthly, multiple resident research projects presented at national meetings and the development of a laparoscopic/robotic curriculum. Dr. Mowers is an exciting new addition to our residency leadership team.
