Celebrating Surgical Innovation: Two Trinity Health Physicians Named Leaders in Health Care Technology

The team at Trinity Health Michigan is incredibly proud of two of our outstanding physicians after they were recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as Notable Leaders in Health Care Technology 2025 — a prestigious honor that highlights those on the cutting edge of advancing medical care through innovation and expertise.
Dr. Safa Kassab, an Orthopedic Surgeon at Trinity Health Oakland, was recognized for his pioneering work in total knee replacement surgery. He became the first surgeon in Michigan to perform a total knee replacement using a new augmented reality surgical system — a breakthrough that enhances precision and outcomes for our patients. ent to advancing orthopedic care continue to inspire excellence across our health care system!
Dr. Robert Lyons, a Cardiothoracic Surgeon with Trinity Health IHA Medical Group at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, was honored for his groundbreaking contributions to minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery. As one of the few robotic heart surgeons in Michigan, Dr. Lyons is shaping the future of cardiac care through personalized treatment plans and global surgical education.
Mike Forman, Director of Health Informatics at Trinity Health, was also recognized for his leadership in optimizing health IT across community-based care. His implementation of sterile compounded workflow technology in 10 pharmacies has significantly improved accuracy, compliance, and patient safety.
