ANN ARBOR and CHELSEA, Mich. (Feb. 25, 2026) – Two Trinity Health Michigan hospitals — Trinity Health Ann Arbor and Chelsea Hospital — have been recognized as the “World's Best Hospitals 2026” by Newsweek.
“This is a significant recognition that reinforces the overall quality of care and elite medical services we provide to Ann Arbor and surrounding Washtenaw County communities,” said Alonzo Lewis, president of Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Livingston, Livonia and Oakland. “This honor reflects the exceptional dedication of our physicians, nurses and support staff, who deliver world-class care every single day. Residents can feel confident knowing they have access to award-winning, high-quality health care close to home.”
The “World’s Best Hospitals 2026” list, developed by Newsweek and Statista Inc., included 2,530 hospitals in 32 countries. The list is based on four data sources:
- Hospital quality metrics, which are identified through an extensive research process in each country and through consultation with local expert
- Recommendations from medical experts (doctors, hospital managers, and health care professionals)
- Results from patient surveys
- Statista Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Implementation Survey
“Earning a place on the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 list is an extraordinary honor, especially for a hospital like ours that is rooted in a small, close-knit community,” said Ben Miles, president of Chelsea Hospital. “While we take great pride in being a community hospital, this distinction shows that we have the resources and capabilities to deliver truly world-class health care. I commend our University of Michigan partners for achieving this ‘World’s Best’ distinction, and every member of the Trinity Health Michigan team for their unwavering commitment to providing excellent care.”
Every hospital in each country is rated with a score. Scores are comparable only within the same country, since each country relies on different sources for patient experience and hospital quality metrics. These structural differences prevent a meaningful standardization of the data across countries. Therefore, scores cannot be compared between countries.
