GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 25, 2025) – Trinity Health Grand Rapids has awarded eight Kent County non-profit organizations a combined $279,948 through its Community Impact Grant program, which directs hospital funds to local organizations serving vulnerable populations.

These grants invest in community-based efforts designed to respond to priority needs identified in the latest Kent County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) from the various communities we serve.

Those CHNA needs and the recipients who received grants to address them are:

“These grants reflect our commitment to partnering with organizations that are closest to this work and most trusted by the communities they serve,” said Matt Biersack, MD, President, Trinity Health Grand Rapids. “Each of these organizations is addressing a critical need identified in our CHNA and together we are investing in solutions that promote the common good and opportunity for all. We are proud to support and stand alongside them.”

The CHNA identified housing as the top priority, a need that Family Promise of West Michigan is working to address. This grant will help expand rental assistance and landlord partnerships, as well as provide families with access to health care, early childhood services, employment, and financial stability resources.

"Stable housing is fundamental to health, and this investment from Trinity Health allows families to move out of crisis and into stability,” said Jim Davis, VP of Business Development, Family Promise of West Michigan. “Through our Family Promise programs, families are not only securing safe housing, but also gaining access to health care, early childhood services, and the support needed to remain housed long term. We are grateful for Trinity Health’s partnership and shared commitment to advancing health equity for families in Kent County.”

Grant recipients were chosen by a committee composed of Trinity Health staff and members of the Kent County Health Equity Council Community Voice group. Recipients received the funding in January for programming during calendar year 2026.
