Trinity Health Brings Dispensary of Hope to Grand Rapids, Expanding Free Medication Access
July 1, 2026
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (July 1, 2026) – Free prescription medication is now available to the most vulnerable members of our community thanks to a partnership between Trinity Health Grand Rapids and Dispensary of Hope, a nonprofit organization that makes medications available to individuals who are uninsured, low-income, and are living with chronic illness.
This is the first Dispensary of Hope pharmacy partnership in Kent County and the first site in Grand Rapids. There is also a site at the Trinity Health Pharmacy - North Muskegon.
The 2023 Kent County Community Health Needs Assessment identified “Access to Medical Care” as one of its four community-identified priorities. In that assessment, 35% of individuals who were uninsured reported not seeing a doctor or not taking prescribed medication due to cost in the past 12 months.
“One of our Core Values at Trinity Health is a commitment to those experiencing poverty. We stand with and serve those community members, especially the most vulnerable,” said Matt Biersack, MD, President, Trinity Health Grand Rapids. “This partnership with Dispensary of Hope brings this value alive and shows what it looks like in action.”
To be eligible, patients must be:
- Uninsured or have health insurance that does not offer prescription coverage
- At, or below, 300% of the Federal Poverty Level
- Not covered under government-sponsored health insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, VA, etc.)
Dispensary of Hope is open to anyone in the community and is not limited to Trinity Health patients. It will operate out of the Trinity Health Pharmacy – Roosevelt Park, located at 730 Cesar E. Chavez Ae. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Patients who are interested should have their provider send their prescriptions to Trinity Health Pharmacy – Roosevelt Park, where they will then attest to meeting the eligibility requirements.
