March 10, 2026By: Bobby Moldanado
Angel Gomez, M.D. is a longtime medical staff leader, who serves as Local Chair of Anesthesiology at Trinity Health Livingston and Medical Director of Anesthesiology at Trinity Health Medical Center - Brighton. He is currently in his sixth term as Chief of Staff for Trinity Health Livingston, providing leadership across all clinical departments to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and professional practice.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Gomez has become one of the most influential clinicians in the Livingston community, helping foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability within the county’s only hospital, while also advocating for patients, physicians, and care teams.
Dr. Gomez recently shared his excitement for the newly constructed Trinity Health Livingston replacement hospital, explaining how it will better support medical teams and improve patient outcomes.
Q: What specific features or technologies in the new Livingston facility are you and your physician peers most excited about?
Dr. Gomez: Our medical staff is especially excited about the hospital’s modernized inpatient and procedural spaces. The updated care platforms, new workstations, and improved technology will help teams recognize changes in a patient’s condition more quickly and respond more efficiently. We’re also looking forward to upgraded imaging capabilities, a redesigned emergency department, and improved inpatient layouts that support faster diagnostics, shorter wait times, and a more comfortable experience for patients and their families.
The hospital’s new location on the Trinity Health Medical Center – Brighton campus, easily accessible from I 96 and US 23, is another major benefit for our employees, patients and their families, and emergency services.
Q: How have the medical teams responded to the new hospital, and what impact do you think it will have on their ability to deliver care?
Dr. Gomez: The response from our physicians, nurses, and allied staff has been overwhelmingly positive. The thoughtful design of the new facility supports smoother workflows, helps clinicians stay closer to their patients, and creates a workspace that fosters pride and renewed energy. The natural setting of the campus also supports a healing and calming environment.
These improvements translate directly into better care. Our teams can coordinate more effectively, communication is clearer, and patient transitions are safer, all of which support a more consistent, high quality experience.
Q. How do you see this new facility strengthening the hospital’s ability to attract, retain, and support top clinical talent?
Dr. Gomez: A state of the art facility plays a major role in attracting and keeping exceptional clinicians. The investment in modern infrastructure signals a strong commitment to our medical staff and the community we serve, not just now, but for the next generation. The convenient location of the replacement hospital and improved access make Trinity Health Livingston an appealing place to practice medicine, helping us recruit and retain top talent from across the region.
Q. How has the continued growth of the hospital influenced the quality of care?
Dr. Gomez: As our hospital has grown, we’ve been able to expand surgical, medical, diagnostic, and emergency services, allowing more patients to receive high quality care close to home. This growth supports earlier detection, timely intervention, and seamless coordination across outpatient, inpatient, and perioperative settings.
For clinicians, the expanded capabilities mean practicing at the top of their training. Access to advanced diagnostic tools, improved procedural options, and a broader range of support services allows for more precise, safer, and more effective treatment across a wider variety of conditions.
Members of the community are invited to discover the new Trinity Health Livingston hospital through an interactive, family friendly open house, scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Trinity Health Livingston replacement hospital is located at 7555 Grand River Ave. in Brighton, Mich.
