About
Dr. Riekse received his medical training from Hope College and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, followed by a residency in internal medicine at both Spectrum and Mercy Health. He completed fellowship training in geriatric medicine at the University of Washington. After his fellowship training, he was the geriatrician for the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the University of Washington.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he serves as the Program Director for the Grand Rapids Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. This is a unique program which trains internal medicine and family medicine physicians to become geriatricians who care for our elderly.
His clinical interests include dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease as well as preventive issues in the elderly. He is often a guest lecturer on geriatric issues. As a member of the Trinity Health Medical Group team, Dr. Riekse will serve patients residing at Beacon Hill and Holland Home.
Dr. Riekse enjoys traveling, cheering on his favorite Michigan State University teams, gardening, boating and golf.
