LIVONIA, Mich. (Aug. 6, 2025) – Trinity Health Ann Arbor and Trinity Health Muskegon have been named by U.S. News & World Report as 2025-2026 Best Hospitals in Michigan, ranked No. 5 and No. 15, respectively. This year, U.S. News recognized 504 Best Regional Hospitals across 49 states for demonstrating superior outcomes in patient care.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions. Only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.

“Our teams across Michigan are united by a shared mission to deliver exceptional, compassionate care to every patient,” said Shannon Striebich, president and CEO of Trinity Health Michigan. “These recognitions are a powerful testament to the clinical excellence and unwavering dedication of our medical staff, and they reflect Trinity Health Michigan’s commitment to improving outcomes for the communities we serve.”

In addition to Best Regional Hospitals, Ann Arbor and Muskegon led Trinity Health Michigan in the annual Procedures and Conditions ratings. These ratings are designed to help patients and physicians make informed decisions about where to receive care for complex health conditions or elective procedures. High Performing ratings were recognized in the following categories:

  • Trinity Health Ann Arbor (20): Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Spinal Fusion, Aortic Valve Surgery (AVR), Heart Bypass Surgery, Congestive Heart Failure, Colon Cancer Surgery, COPD, Diabetes, Gynecological Cancer, Heart Attack, Hip Replacement, Hip Fracture, Kidney Failure, Knee Replacement, Lung Cancer Surgery, Pneumonia, Stroke, Heart Arrhythmia, Pacemaker Implantation and Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma
  • Trinity Health Muskegon (10): Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Spinal Fusion, COPD, Heart Attack, Hip Replacement, Hip Fracture, Knee Replacement, Pneumonia, Heart Arrhythmia, Pacemaker Implantation
  • Trinity Health Grand Rapids (7): Spinal Fusion, COPD, Diabetes, Hip Replacement, Pneumonia, Prostate Cancer Surgery and Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma
  • Trinity Health Oakland (7): Spinal Fusion, Congestive Heart Failure, Heart Attack, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma, Pacemaker Implantation

  • Chelsea Hospital (4): COPD, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Pneumonia Chelsea Hospital is a joint venture between Trinity Health and University of Michigan Health.
  • Trinity Health Livingston (3): Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Pneumonia

High Performing is the highest possible rating awarded by U.S. News, typically earned by only 15 to 30% of hospitals evaluated for each type of care.

“For more than three decades, U.S. News has been an invaluable guide for patients,” said Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “With a ‘Best Hospital’ recognition, Americans, in consultation with their medical providers, can confidently choose a regional hospital known for providing superior care for their specific illness or condition.”

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzes performance using objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and quality of nursing care. The Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology draws from more than 800 million patient care records.

These accolades are among additional recognition for Trinity Health Michigan. This spring, U.S. News named Trinity Health Oakland and Trinity Health Grand Rapids as 2025 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.
