Curriculum

Transitional Year Residency

A typical year in our Transitional Year program consists of 13 rotations, each lasting 4 weeks:

  • 4 blocks of Inpatient Medicine on a dedicated teaching service
  • 2 blocks of Inpatient Medicine Electives
  • 2 blocks of Emergency Medicine
  • 1 block of Ambulatory Medicine
  • 4 blocks of Electives

Transitional Year residents will be able attend didactics with categorical residents on each block.

The Transitional Year program has a longitudinal didactic curriculum specific to our residents including simulation-based training, hands on ultrasound training, journal club, and wellness activities.

Rotations are primarily based at Trinity Health Grand Rapids, with some elective rotations at Corewell Health Butterworth, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, University of Michigan Health-West, and/or private physician offices.
