Julia Van de Kerkhove, BSN, RN, clinical nurse manager, shares why she chose to work for Trinity Health Ann Arbor and how it fuels her passion to care for others. Julia started her career at the hospital in 2016 as an Emergency Room (ER) technician.
“After earning my nursing degree from Madonna University in 2019, I transitioned into the role of ER nurse coordinator in 2021,” said Julia. “In 2024, I briefly stepped away from the ER to serve as a house administrator, but I was thrilled to return in 2025 as one of the ER managers.”
As an ER clinical nurse manager, Julia oversees the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. She manages nursing staff, monitors compliance with clinical standards, and collaborates with physicians and other departments. Julia fosters a positive team culture while maintaining regulatory and safety standards.
“Trinity Health Ann Arbor fulfills my passion for nursing by providing numerous opportunities to advance my career,” said Julia. “I’m grateful to my leaders for guiding and shaping me into the nurse I am today. Beyond the bedside, Trinity Health Ann Arbor has offered me the chance to grow professionally and personally, allowing me to make an even greater impact on patient care.”
Trinity Health Ann Arbor offers numerous professional development programs to advance careers. Eligible colleagues can also receive assistance from student loan relief programs and tuition reimbursement.
“I truly enjoy working at Trinity Health Ann Arbor because its mission and core values align with my own,” said Julia. “I’m proud to be part of an organization committed to serving our communities. Our mission resonates with me because I’ve always been passionate about supporting people during their most vulnerable moments — especially in the fast-paced, critical environment of emergency care. For me, it’s deeply meaningful to work in a place that respects the dignity of every individual and strives to make a difference every day.”
Trinity Health Ann Arbor was recently recognized for its excellence as a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital. “Working at a nationally-recognized hospital means being part of an organization whose core mission is to serve our communities, develop leaders from within, foster professional growth, and deliver exceptional patient care,” said Julia.
When Julia is not working, she’s filling her heart with love by spending time with her family. They like to travel, fish and mountain bike; outdoor activities are fun, while they make the most of their time together.
“I wholeheartedly recommend Trinity Health Ann Arbor to any nurse seeking a rewarding career,” said Julia. “Being a part of this organization fills me with pride, and I plan to continue serving here throughout my nursing journey. Trinity Health Ann Arbor is where my roots are, and I encourage all nurses to join us in making a meaningful impact.”
