About this event
Through this interactive, virtual class series you gain the skills, and confidence, to effectively manage your blood pressure through sustainable lifestyle change. You will learn simple, practical strategies to eat well, sleep better, manage stress, stay active, and more, in a supportive group learning environment.Lifestyle medicine takes a whole-person approach to health through six pillars of wellbeing: whole food plant-forward nutrition, regular movement, restorative sleep, supportive stress management, connectedness, and avoidance of risky substances.
The Lifestyle Medicine Strategies for Better Blood Pressure virtual class series will help you gain the skills, and confidence, to manage your blood pressure through sustainable change in all six lifestyle medicine pillars. You will learn simple, practical strategies to eat well, sleep better, manage stress, stay active, and more! Class content is rooted in the latest scientific evidence and delivered in a supportive, encouraging group learning environment.
Who this Class is For:
Anyone with borderline high blood pressure or high blood pressure (hypertension) who is interested in making lifestyle changes to better manage their blood pressure and improve their quality of life.
What the Class Includes:
• Group-Based Learning and Community Support: This is a supportive, engaging environment where you'll learn alongside, and connect with, other people who also have high blood pressure.
• Comprehensive Overview of Lifestyle Medicine: This class provides an introduction to hypertension (high blood pressure) and covers lifestyle approaches (nutrition, stress management, movement, sleep, connectedness, etc.) that can improve blood pressure.
• Practical Tips and Strategies: Each class includes realistic, actionable advice to help you easily incorporate lifestyle changes to lower your blood pressure.
• Culinary Sessions: Participants have access to on-demand cooking demonstrations focused on foods that support balanced blood pressure.
• Weekly Check-in Emails: Each week, you’ll receive class slides, links to recipes and resources, and more!
This Class Is Not:
• Personalized, one on one care. The class is designed for group learning and general education.
• A replacement for appointments with your doctor or care team. This class is not a substitute for individual medical advice or one-on-one consultation with a doctor, dietitian, or other health provider.
• Support for medication management.
Cost: Each class is billed to your insurance. If not covered, the cost is $44 per class, totaling $220 for all 5 classes. Please contact your insurance provider to verify coverage for
Medical Nutrition Therapy CPT code 97804, and to check any deductible, copays, or coinsurance you may owe. Confirm if a physician referral is required.

• Feb 17- Mar 17 (6 – 7 PM, Tuesdays)
• May 20 – Jun 17 (12 – 1 PM, Wednesdays)
• October 6 – November 3 (6 – 7 PM, Tuesdays)
Meet your instructor: This class is taught by Kelly Wilson, RDN, DipACLM. Kelly is a registered dietitian nutritionist specializing in lifestyle medicine, culinary medicine, and local food systems. She is a warm, engaging educator skilled in creating supportive, patient-centered learning environments.
